Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal

Kmart’s Wishing Tree Appeal – Small gift, big heart

Kmart will officially launch its iconic Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal with founding charity partner, The Salvation Army, from 7 November. Running in store and online right through to Christmas, the appeal is Australia’s largest and longest-running gift collection drive, with this year marking a historic milestone – 35 years of supporting those doing it tough in communities across Australia.

The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal aims to create a brighter Christmas for Aussies experiencing hardship or crisis, through the delivery of gifts to those in need nationwide, including communities impacted by the recent devasting floods.

This year’s theme calls on the community to support to those doing it tough this festive season by dropping off a new gift under the Wishing Tree at any Kmart store, or by making a monetary contribution in-store or online. The ongoing support by the community during this time of year will make an incredible difference to the lives of so many Australians who need a helping hand this festive season.

Kmart’s community manager, Frankie Swithinbank, says the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal provides not only a generous initiative to support Australians through difficult times, but also an easy way for families to take part and give back to the community, with the help of the Kmart team nationwide.

Kris Halliday, corps officer at The Salvation Army, says the Salvos see the acute need for support from Australians doing it tough every Christmas. “Our hope at Christmas is for no one to have to do it alone”, says Kris. “Through our incredible 35-year partnership with the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal, the Salvos have been able to provide millions of gifts and toys to families and individuals in need at Christmas. Through a small act of kindness, like donating a gift to the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal, you can bring the true meaning of hope and joy to someone in need this Christmas.”
