Stories of Youth Homelessness - ACHPER

15 February 2015

Our friends at The Australian Council for Health, Physical Education and Recreation (ACHPER) have written a blog about our brand new teaching resource for Health and Physical Education – The Oasis: Stories of Youth Homelessness.

Surprisingly, only 7% of Australia’s homeless population experience ‘primary homelessness’ – sleeping on the streets while couch surfing is the most dominant form of youth homelessness.

“THE OASIS resource for Year 9 and 10 Health and Physical Education is focused on raising awareness of youth homelessness, celebrating the resilience of young people who are experiencing homelessness in Australia and empowering young people to take action to prevent youth homelessness in their local community.

The resource includes three modules that can be taught as a sequential unit of work across a term, or they can be stand-alone modules that complement existing units of work."
