Energy providers join forces to support struggling Australians this Christmas

30 November 2022

AGL, Alinta and Origin are standing together as a united front, pledging to financially support The Salvation Army and light the way for thousands of struggling Australians impacted by cost-of-living pressures this Christmas.

The Salvation Army’s research indicates that 15% of Australian households are believed to be in poverty with three in ten Australians believing that they will struggle to pay for groceries over the next 3 months.

It is heartbreaking to know that for 3 million Australians living below the poverty line, many will be forced to choose between paying their escalating rental costs or electricity bills to keep their lights on, leaving little room to put food on the table.

The positive impact of this collaboration will save families from homelessness, support women escaping violence and give people the strength they need to make a fresh start in life.

The Salvation Army is thankful to our partners at AGL, Alinta and Origin for their support of the Christmas Appeal. Its through partnerships like this, that allows the Salvos to continue our vital work, particularly at Christmas, to bring hope and help to those in need,” says Major Bruce Harmer, National Public Relations Secretary.
